SAAC Basic Camp + Family Camp

At the SAAC Family Camp at the Stubai Glacier, families learn together how to explore off-piste terrain safely and responsibly. The camp is specially designed for families with children aged 12 and over and combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises in the mountains.

Topics include avalanche awareness, risk management, the correct use of avalanche safety equipment and responsible behaviour in alpine terrain.

Program:

Saturday, 03 April 2027 – Theory
3:30 pm to approx. 5:00/5:30 pm
Meeting point: Alpensporthotel Mutterberg

Sunday, 04 April 2027 – Practical training
8:05 am to approx. 3:00 pm
Meeting point: Ticket office at the Eisgratbahn valley station

Together with experienced mountain guides, participants head out into the terrain to put their theoretical knowledge into practice – from identifying alpine hazards and assessing terrain to risk management and avalanche rescue training.

What is needed?

• Ski or snowboard equipment
• Backpack
• If available: avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe
• If available: valid ski pass, Freizeitticket, Snow Card or similar

Who can take part?

• Minimum age: 12 years
• Sufficient skiing or snowboarding skills for off-piste terrain
• Families are given priority when camp places are allocated

Costs

Participation in the SAAC Family Camp is free of charge.

A ski pass is required for the practical training day and is not included in the free camp participation.
